How does an enterprise from a holiday region like the Bavarian Alps around the castles of King Louis II., get around to producing Black Boxes according to the standards of aviation and navigation?
Legitimate question!
Since the foundation in 1998, Novega is intensively engaged in producing high temperature insulation systems, an important key to Black Box development. We knew, which high potential our insulation systems held, applications however were mostly intended for industrial concerns. A resolution of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) gave the determining incentive and at the turn of millennium, gave us the idea and the plan to develop a Black Box, which was bound for the coming market of navigation.
A breeze of adventure, exotic, power and freedom
At once, we have been enthusiastic with the idea of absolute protection of a data memory from extreme environmental conditions like high temperatures, highest water pressures and impact forces. This was our challenge from the first moment on.
The imagination that the biggest vessels of the world would entrust our data memory with all their relevant navigation data gave wings and created emotions. It was nearly a childhood dream to be on a casting off vessel with such an important thing like a Black Box. A breeze of adventure, exotic, power and freedom in an -apart from that- technical characterized environment.
Our equipments should travel around the whole world and stand up to the elements day to day, around the clock, care for security and information.
To date, there are scarcely 2000 vessels, equipped with Novega data protective capsules, on their way on the seven seas, mostly tank ships, container vessels and bulk carriers, which constitute the biggest part of navigation. Also the names of such established cruise liners like AIDA, Queen Mary II or Costa Concordia are to be found in Novega's customer portfolio.
A lot of know how has been gathered over the years. The first Black Box -a few years ago- with a weight of 40kg and the recent generation with 6.9kg are worlds apart, not only in terms of weight. As we have been reliant on the support of other producers concerning electronic components and software, this scope is almost completely covered by ourselves.
A breeze of adventure, exotic, power and freedom, for you, too.
The fast space of storage capacities on the SSD market makes it possible.
As solid state disks with more than 2GB have not almost been affordable, today there are already SSD announced in a Tbyte range by some producers. 0.5 Tbyte memories are deliverable.
Enterprise Black Box
Aided and moved by this progress, it was absolutely clear for us: We wanted the Enterprise Black Box. It was the target for our development department to stay at the original?s design as near as possible. We wanted to keep the character, on the seven seas or at our land-based customers.
Noah Data Strongroom is an experience. A real Black Box. Equipped with identical data capsule, made on the same production line and tested under similar identical conditions.
